I was just informed that works that are 'cartoony' are not art. And when I begged to differ they settled and said fine, that they were art. Just really bad art. Is this a common opinion? Do people really not hold things that don't fall into the realistic category in high regard?
When I say 'cartoony' I mean things that are not realistic. Because when this boy was referring to art he was referring to accentuated paintings and drawings of people that were very ... proper? and just realistic. I don't know how else to describe it. I'm upset that it was such a short run in with this individual and he got me so worked up so easily. My heart is in my stomach. I don't want this to be a common thought, that just because art is different, it makes one category 'better' than the other.
Hopefully I will forget all about this ridiculousness.
Highly doubtful.
